Transformation Challenge Year 2 - UPDATED!!
Last year, we did a Transformation Challenge for my co-workers and I. It started on the beginning of October to the middle of December. It was very simple, you get to choose what you want to do, lose fat or gain muscle, and the method was up to you. Here's my results from last year.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give myself a 6.5. I hoped to have a bigger change after 10 weeks but I was okay with my results, more definition around the shoulders and chest, and a bit off the waistline.
Fast forward to this year's competition. I decided to try and bulk, put on some muscle. Something I never tried to do. Up the calories, and up the weight. Sounds simple, let's see.
UPDATE: it's been about a month into this years competition and I got to say, bulking is harder than it sounds. After about a year and a half of trying to keep the calories down (roughly around 1700-2000), I'm not programmed to eat as much as I need to (preferably around 2500-3000 calories). Ya, I could pack on the calories by eating not so healthy foods, but that's not exactly the way I want to do it.
Definitely thought it would be easy this time around. haha. More food needed. More food.
RESULTS:
So here are my before and after pics for the last challenge. This year was about bulking, putting on muscle. I am happy with my results. I did put on about 6 lbs over the 2 1/2 months, which in my opinion in a healthy weight gain.
During the challenge I kept thinking, 'to be big you need to eat big and lift big.' The lifting big part wasn't too much of a problem. I had a workout partner for most of my session which allowed me to push harder and heavier. But as stated above, eating, and eating healthy, was a problem for me at times. A) because I wasn't used to eating that much, and b) because eating healthy, in large potions, was hard.
Overall, I didn't go to far out of my way for this challenge. I continued with my everyday workout routine but looked to increase my weights and the number of exercises I did. In terms of eating, I just ate more. Instead of 2 eggs, I had 3. I gave myself an extra piece or two of meat at every meal. I made everything fit into what I was already doing and I paid off.
