Revolution Nutrition

A while back, I came across a Canadian company called Revolution Nutrition on one of my social media. There's a nice little write up on them from on SupplementsReview.com*. Became interested in the variety of flavour they had, combo of  dessert and candy, yum. But at the time, I just received an order so no rush to get more. Summer came along, running low on protein, their ad came up again, how'd they know??

One selling point that got me was to try a refreshing new flavour for the summer instead of the same old common ones. I immediately thought smoothies over milkshakes, so I pulled the trigger and bought some, pictured above. I'd like to add that I helped that they had a buy one get one 50% off sale :)

***Disclaimer: I am not a registered dietician, scientist, or doctor, so my knowledge to the contains are very limited, and by very basic, I mean what is on the label ***

When picking out proteins I look for the following things:

    1. how many grams of protein it has per serving - normally around 25g

    2. total calories per serving - most will have about 120-140 calories anything more may maintain fillers in the product that you don't necessarily need unless your planning on bulking (ie. weight gainers)

    3. it contains whey isolate over concentrate - I learned that whey concentrate includes lactose that may load to bloating. Nothing like having a good workout, having a great pump, and looking a little bloated. haha.

    4. servings per container - this is more from a financial standpoint. I try to stick to 25 - 30 servings for container that costs around $40 dollars.

    So with that being said....

First I tried a protein isolate splash. It was a toss up between the two flavours, sour watermelon and fuzzy peach, so I left it in the decision of my kids who ended up choosing sour watermelon. I excitedly opened it up and mixed it with some water. First thought, mmm, I like it. It did taste like the candies.

The only think that I didn't like about it was the weird after taste. It seemed familiar. It wasn't til my wife pointed out that it tastes like a children's medicine we all had as a kid. I can't remember which one, but I remember not liking it back then. My wifey couldn't finish it.

If I had to rate this protein in terms of taste, I'd give it a 7/10. I like that fact that it's different from the traditional flavours out there, but the after taste still gets to me.

Next we, by we I mean my wife, open the chocolate mint ice cream protein, whey dessert. If you're a chocolate mint person, this will rock your world. You mix it with some milk, delicious! Come to think of it, I didn't even try making it into a milkshake.... dang it.

If you already guessed it, I give this a 10/10. This has become my wife's favourite over the MusclePharms cookie and cream, which is also delicious. Just found out that they are sold at Costco, my wife is excited by this. haha

Something new I've never tried before are protein gummy. I'm not going to lie, this was a throw in to get the free shipping. An interesting concept, it's different from the common shakes and bars.

Initial thought when opening it was, don't judge the taste by the smell. Why is it that we have a need to smell things first before tasting it anyways? lol. The taste on the other hand was great, just like eating gummies with 0 grams of sugar. I dunno what they use to make it taste sweet (didn't look to close to the label) but they sure did a good job on the taste factor.

So overall at this point, I do recommend giving Revolution Nutrition a try. I'm going to try and stick to the dessert proteins for now seeing that the mint chocolate ice cream topped the sour watermelon in my opinion. It might change though after I try the fuzzy peach protein. You may want to do your own research on the company and it's products before purchasing. I'm sure there are more in-depth reviews on them out there.  Like I said in the disclaimer, I'm not a professional reviewing this, I'm just a average guys letting everyone know what I think. Take it or leave it.... that saying reminds me of the song Ice Ice Baby... Anywhoo, thanks for the read, hope it wasn't too much of a waste of time.
